It was not easy making it this far.

In December, 1891, the Young Women's Christian Association of Bay City was incorporated. For the past 119 years the YWCA has provided valuable programs and services to the community to promote wellness and assist those in need. In March of 2010, the YWCA of Bay County changed our name to the YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region to better reflect the area we service.

Since divesting out of the fitness arena we were once known for, the YWCA now focuses all our time and energy on our mission:  The economic advancement of women in the Great Lakes Bay Region.  Our new YWCA Women’s Resource Center includes a full technology center and provides education, resume development, job searches, computer literacy skills, legal assistance referrals, financial literacy and other support services to assist women in becoming economically self-sufficient.  Our advocacy project includes the development of our publication:

The Economic Status of Women in the Great Lakes Bay Region,” and our new community education program offers education and professional development opportunities to the public.  Throughout our transition the YWCA maintained our Family Enrichment Parenting Program and recently added new parenting programs in Tuscola and Midland County.
